Chevrolet Volt is the first electric chargeable car that will be launched in India by General Motors. The car will be available in the Indian market at the end of 2010. The car was initially displayed at the 100thbirthday celebration of company in September 2008.

This car is powered by lithium ion batteries and these can be recharged when they are plugged into mains or recharging can also be done on the go through 1.4L petrol engine. The electric motor can deliver power of 150 bhp along with peak torque of 37.78 kgm. The lithium battery pack works through heating and cooling.
Chevrolet Volt review indicates that cooling plays an important role as excess heat can result in killing of lithium ion cells. The company promises that the battery pack can be charged completely for as many as 6000 charges. With frequent charging the capacity of the pack may reduce to around 70 to 80 percent of its initially storage capacity.

It is rather easy to drive the Chevrolet Volt and by pressing a start button the dashboard lights up and the car comes to life. The car has very less engine noise. The interiors of the car are decent and legroom and headroom is also good. The car has star mobile application wherein the fuel efficiency, electric range, charge level and locking as well as unlocking of the door can be done through smart phone alone.
Chevrolet Volt Safety features
The safety features in the car include antilock brake system, anti skid system and air bags for front, side and curtain airbags as well.
Chevrolet Volt Price and design variations
The price of the car is expected to be around Rs 35 to Rs 40 lakhs. The car is expected to be available in a single design variation.

The colors in which the car will be available are not known as yet.
