Maruti Suzuki’s car production hit as worker protest enters seventh day

Worker protests continue, even on the sixth day as production takes a hit on the Maruti Suzuki Manesar plant. Only 150 cars rolled off the production line on Saturday as the workers continued their protests outside the factory. The protests in the Maruti plant have a major impact on production processes. This is not the first time that the company is encountering this problem. This year alone, Manesar plant has seen several rounds of protests.

Meanwhile, the Maruti management hired 125 extra people to keep production tapping. The company is hiring people for this purpose because the turmoil escalated. Maruti Suzuki has tied a total of 800 employees, supervisors and engineers to date. The production rate strongly decreased, although the company is adding to the number of contract workers leaving the factory. Yet it all worse.
“Production is mainly done by supervisors and engineers from MSIL. Most of the production of the Swift cars. Now there are 800 trained and experienced people in the Manesar plant,” a company spokesman said.

Maruti management has in fact invited representatives of the employee talks to reach a solution to this problem. Also, both parties will want to come to a compromise that will benefit both management and workers. Meanwhile, the workers wrote to the Prime Minister in the hope that his intervention could force the MSIL management to notice of their demands to be taken.
The issue is now so much that even the local county government has to monitor the situation escalated. “We can not force the two parties. Therefore we are looking for an amicable solution to the whole situation but must be based on merit,” said the Deputy Commissioner.
