Overall

Nissan, the largest auto manufacturer in the world, is reported to launch its flagship car model, Nissan GTR in India. The sports car which has coupe design was first introduced in Japan in December 2007 followed by the U.S. in July 2008 and the rest of the world in March 2009. The car is also known as Godzilla across the world. The concept car of Nissan GTR was displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2001 and 2005. However the production model of the car was showcased in 2007 Tokyo Motor Show and launched commercially in Japan on December 6, 2007.

After the commercial launch, Nissan GTR was launched in different countries with a few upgradation. Recently the car was displayed at Tokyo Motor Show 2009 with some changes. The car Nissan GTR was brought to India in March 2008 for display purpose only.

The super fast sports car, Nissan GTR, comes loaded with a 3.8L, DOHC V6, two-parallel turbochargers, all wheel drive with a displacement of 3,799cc. The powerplant of the coupe is capable of delivering a maximum power of 474 bhp at 6400 rpm and produces a peak torque of 588 Nm at 3,200-5200 rpm. The Nissan GTR comes equipped with GR6 dual-clutch six-speed transmission. As far as the acceleration is concerned, the Nissan GTR can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in mere 3.5 seconds, its a World Record. The top speed of the vehicle is more than 300 kmph that speaks volumes about the performance of the car.

Nissan GTR has outstanding exterior with unique shapes at front and rear. The front face of the car is very similar to a rocket. It is also larger than the rear which is common to coupe. The flat grille slot is very sporty and aggressive with monster like look. The upper grille is designed by blending honeycomb grille while the lower grille is totally honeycomb style. Front side skirt is there below the lower grille. Headlamp cluster, comprised of xenon headlamps, is longer and sporty as well. Nissan GTR comprises of electronically powered outside rear view mirrors in body colour. While the door handlebars, bumpers are in body colour. The rear side view of the car is fascinating, charming, dashing and much more. The rear of the Nissan GTR is no less than a dance floor that swoons even the most rigid of car enthusiasts. Tail lights are in 4 dials and LED treatment. Right below the tail lights, twin-exhaust system is positioned at both sides. A large rear spoiler adds to the beauty and sporty look of the mean machine.

The inside of Nissan GTR is stunning and eye-catching. The cabin is equipped with most advanced interior features. The steering wheel is fully powered and has mounted controls. The dashboard is comprised of large meters in black background, white fonts and red arrows. Nissan GTR sports rocking audio system with MP3/CD player and changer along with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Enough storage space is provided inside the car by the manufacturer. Ample legroom, headroom, hiproom and shoulder room are ensured in the cabin for every passenger. For the safety and security purpose, the Nissan GTR is provided with 8 airbags, fog lamps, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, EBD, ABS, ESP and vehicle security alarm system. Nissan GTR is expected to be launched in India with all the above mentioned specifications and features. However, a lot will depend on how the company brings it here.

In the overseas market, the iconic car gives around 15 kmpl of mileage in city and 21 kmpl on highways; however, on Indian roads the mileage figures may varies. It should be noted that these supercars are not for those people who keep staring at fuel gauge, its for people with the need for speed !
