Honda CR V Diesel

Since the advent of the new and improved diesel cars, the car makers are going extra miles in order to make something better than the previous one. Currently, the market is enthusiastically waiting for the new Honda CRV Diesel, which as the name suggests is the diesel version of Honda’s popular SUV, CRV.
Honda has always been a major petrol car making company but sensing the sentiment of the Indian car buyers, the company is entering the arena of diesel cars. Diesel cars are a hot favorite among the buyers mainly because of the fuel efficiency and these cars are hence very cost effective. As an added bonus, in the recent past car makers have come up with improved diesel models with reduced sound and improved mileage.
The CR-V Diesel is expected to hit the market in 2011 and will be placed in a price bracket of Rs. 22.5-25 lakh. The new Honda CRV Diesel will have a common-rail diesel engine which is equipped with four cylinders with a displacement of 2200 cubic centimeters. The engine is all set to produce a maximum of 134 horses in pull and a torque of 347Nm. It will have inspired looks from its prior petrol model with just the difference of the engine.
So now,  after a long-standing trend of using only petrol engines in its car, the Japanese auto giant Honda Motors is all set debut its first ever diesel engine by launching a diesel variant of its popular luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) Honda CR-V in the country, next year. The launch of a new diesel version will enable the CR-V model to compete more promptly with its rivals like Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Tucson and Nissan X-Trail. The new Honda CR-V diesel is expected to be launched in the price segment of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
Engine & Specifications of Honda CR-V Diesel
As mentioned above the new Honda CR-V diesel model will be sporting a 2200cc, CRDi, 4 Cylinder engine. The powerful diesel engine of the CR-V is capable of out-pouring a peak power of 134hp along with a peak torque of 347Nm.  The all new CR-V diesel engine will be carrying superior acceleration and pick-up characteristics and is expected to be rolled-out in both two and four wheel drive variants.
Performance of Honda CR-V diesel
With high fuel economy and superior acceleration and pick-up characteristics, the new Honda CR-V diesel is expected to raise the bars in the luxury SUV segment. The fuel efficiency of new Honda CR-V diesel is expected to be ranging between 14 kmpl to 18kmpl, which is considerably high when compared to its competitors. Same as its petrol sibling, the new Honda CR-V will come blessed with a number of off-road capabilities such as Vehicle Stability Assist for uneven terrain. The advanced technology and superbly designed body of this model makes it perfectly suitable for the off-road journeys like jungle safari. On the other hand, the superb handling characteristic of this SUV makes it easy to drive in heavy city traffic conditions. While the CR-V model uses front wheel drive on even terrains, the rear-wheels starts kicking in as soon as the going gets tougher for the fornt wheels.
Exterior, Interior and Safety of Honda CR-V diesel
Both the exterior and interior designing of the car are expected to be almost similar to its petrol counterpart. The diesel variant of this SUV is expected to be offered in three trims, carrying a four-wheel drive as a standard feature. The interior of the CR-V Diesel is well designed and a user friendly instrument panel has been provided to take the driver-convenience level even further. The designers of CR-V have tried to utilize every inch of its interior space by offering a number of storage compartments including cup-holders, storage box under the front-passenger seats and many more. On the safety front, Honda has left no stone un-turned in making sure a full proof safety of the passenger as well as vehicle. The safety features that are expected to find a place inside the diesel version include front seat airbags, front and rear seat side air curtains, Antilock Braking System with electronic break-force distribution, traction control and vehicle stability assist.
